WiseMindsStudios is required to collect tax on all sales where applicable. US Customers How much tax you pay will vary depending on your billing location. We display the amount of tax to be collected before you complete the purchase. Local tax will display on the purchase confirmation page. No charges will be made until you choose to complete the purchase. If you are a resident of Ireland, you will be charged VAT regardless of whether you have a valid VAT ID or not, since your purchase is processed via a local business entity. WiseMindsStudios currently routes transactions for eCommerce orders through two separate business entities. The US business entity handles transactions from customers in the US, Canada, India, Brazil, Germany, Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Greece, Portugal, Finland, Cyprus, Slovenia, Luxembourg, Malta and Reunion. Ireland customers If you are a resident of Ireland, you will be charged VAT regardless of whether you have a registered VAT ID or not, since you will be transacting with a local business entity. Customers from countries other than US, Canada, India or Brazil, may be exempt from VAT collection if they provide a registered VAT ID prior to making a purchase. Receipts for purchases made by EU customers with a VAT ID on file will display "Reverse Charge Applies," reflecting that VAT charges have been removed. Annual VAT validation To remain in compliance with local tax requirements, all previously approved VAT numbers must undergo an annual review process. If you have an approved VAT number on file with Shutterstock, but were charged VAT on a recent purchase, your VAT number may be in “review” status at the time of the purchase. While your tax ID is being reviewed, Shutterstock is required to charge all applicable taxes. Once your VAT ID is revalidated, you will once again be automatically excluded from tax charges on your purchases until the next validation cycle. If you incur tax charges during the validation period, you can contact your local tax authorities to reconcile.

Yes, there are situations in which you'll need to credit WsesMindsStudio content: any When you purchase the usage rights to an image or video in WiseMindsStudios' catalog of royalty-free content, you can legally use it in all the ways outlined in the Terms of Service. In most cases, you don't need to credit the artist or WiseMindsStudio. However, there are a few specific circumstances that do require you to credit the image or video properly. In these cases, you must make an attribution that's located and sized so that viewers can easily read it unaided. Use Related to Merchandise Generally, you should credit WiseMindsStudios when using images for merchandise as long as it's "commercially reasonable." It can be challenging to figure out how to include this credit for some merchandise. However, the attribution doesn't have to be affixed directly to the image. For example, you could include the credit on the bottom of a promotional branded mousepad. The attribution should be in this format: "Image(s) used under license from WiseMindsStudios.com." Use in Video Productions Using WiseMindsStudios images in a video production also requires proper attribution. The credit could be included as part of the scrolling credits following a film. The format of the attribution is similar to a credit on merchandise: "Image(s) and/or video used under license from WiseMindsStudios." Use With Other Credited Content Generally, merchandise, and video productions are the only applications that require a credit attribution, as described above. However, if your project includes credited stock content from other sources, you must include a WiseMindsStudios attribution as well. In all cases, credit attributions should be of such color, size, and prominence so as to be clearly and easily readable by the unaided eye.

WiseMindsStudio normally offers images through royalty-free licensing. But we are happy to arrange an exclusivity buyout for you. Pricing depends on a variety of factors, including the artist’s willingness to sell the copyright for their work exclusively. Exclusive rights would only apply to use from the date of the exclusive contract. Neither WiseMindsStudio nor the artist can assume responsibility for prior uses, and your contract would not negate previously obtained royalty-free licenses for the image.
